Swiss watchmaker Eterna has introduced two new versions of its Vaughan Big Date watch, which the brand first debuted in 2007. The Vaughan Big Date is notable for its slender design, and retro-inspired elegance as well as an intelligently designed Eterna in-house automatic movement with a sophisticated large date display.
The new Eterna Vaughan watches are presented in both 18-karat rose gold and stainless steel. The stainless steel watch features a classical off-white colored dial and a black or brown alligator leather strap, while the distinguished 18K rose gold version gains a scintillating anthracite dial and a complimentary alligator strap in rich brown. Both variations share the basic details of the 2007 models, including faceted triangular hour markers, dauphine hands, and a curved dial profile. Straps are outfitted with a folding clasp.
In creating the 3030 Caliber, Eterna sought an optimal balance between classical craftsmanship, mechanical ingenuity, and fool-proof operation. The large date display is exemplary, featuring two concentric cambered rings that lie side by side; it offers a particularly slender construction thanks to ball-bearing date disc mountings, and integrated gear toothing. Not only does the Eterna large date mechanism switch instantly at the stroke of midnight, it offers the user the option of safe adjustment at any time over a 24-hour period, an action not permissible on many watches with a calendar function.
